Alabama man arrested after authorities say he hid fentanyl inside Easter eggs

TUSCUMBIA, Ala. – An Alabama man is behind bars after authorities say they found Easter eggs filled with fentanyl inside his vehicle. On April 1st, the Colbert County Sheriff’s Department says they pulled over 29-year-old Jamarious Qualls of Russellville, who had misdemeanor warrants for his arrest.

During a search of his vehicle, the department says they found two plastic Easter egg containers filled with 176 fentanyl pills, along with a plastic bag containing one ounce of “spice” synthetic cannabis.

Qualls is charged with drug trafficking and unlawful possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.

As Emily’s Hope has reported, a record number of Americans are dying from illicit drugs. Fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid, is responsible for many of those deaths, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
