Rapid City woman sentenced to more than 22 years in prison for conspiring to traffic large amounts of meth

RAPID CITY, S.D. – A 39-year-old Rapid City, South Dakota woman was sentenced to more than 22 years in prison for conspiring to traffic large quantities of methamphetamine in western South Dakota. Alisa See worked with another co-conspirator to transport meth from California to South Dakota between 2022 and 2023. The two then distributed the drug to others for further trafficking.

“See was personally involved in the distribution of at least 30 pounds of methamphetamine in western South Dakota,” said U.S. Attorney Alison J. Ramsdell. “We are grateful to our law enforcement partners at UNET for investigating and exposing this drug conspiracy, which permitted the U.S. Attorney’s Office to seek a federal conviction and impactful sentence.”

Methamphetamine use has been an ongoing issue in South Dakota, gaining national attention in 2019 with the state’s anti-meth campaign, “Meth. We’re on it.” Governor Kristi Noem said it was created because “meth is a serious problem in SD.”

In 2022, nearly half of all overdose deaths in South Dakota were attributed to methamphetamine, according to the South Dakota Department of Health.
