PORTLAND, Ore. – A mother enjoying a day at a Portland park with her children stumbled upon something truly alarming. As reported by Fox 12, she spotted 80 grams of fentanyl scattered in the grass at Tanner Springs Park. Reacting swiftly, she made the decision to take the drugs home and secure them in a safe location away from children.
Once the authorities were notified, officers arrived at the scene and confiscated multiple bags containing both powdered and pill forms of the illicit substance. The Portland Police emphasize that if anyone encounters fentanyl in a public setting, it is crucial to immediately contact them.
Fentanyl, a synthetic opioid known to be approximately 50 times more potent than heroin, poses an extreme danger. Just two milligrams of this substance can prove deadly, depending on a person’s body size, tolerance, and past usage, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that out of nearly 110,000 overdose deaths in 2022, approximately 75,000 of them were potentially linked to fentanyl.
