Dr. Matthew Stanley serves as Vice Chairman of the Emily’s Hope Board of Directors. Dr. Stanley made significant contributions to the field of behavioral health during his 28 years with the Avera Health System.
Currently, Dr. Stanley holds the position of Senior Medical Director-Behavioral Health at Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield. In this role, he brings his wealth of knowledge and expertise to shape and enhance the organization’s behavioral health services.
Dr. Stanley is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He graduated from the University of Osteopathic Medicine & Health Sciences in Des Moines, IA, in 1991. He then completed his residency in psychiatry at Western Missouri Mental Health Center in Kansas City, followed by a fellowship at the University of South Dakota School of Medicine in Vermillion.
Recognized as a leading authority in the field of addiction medicine, Dr. Stanley is frequently invited to participate as a medical expert on panels discussing the opioid crisis. He has collaborated with Angela Kennecke, contributing his insights and expertise to raise awareness and address the drug crisis.
