In this special recast of Grieving Out Loud, we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Gladys McGarey, the mother of holistic medicine, who died on September 28, 2024, at the age of 103. Dr. Gladys believed that “love is the most powerful medicine,” and she dedicated her life to sharing that message. In this conversation, she opens up about her journey, the principles of the 5Ls (Love, Life, Labor, Laughter, and Listening), and how purpose drives a life well-lived.
With humor, grace, and deep insight, Dr. Gladys shares how she overcame personal hardships, including battling cancer, the loss of a child, and the pain of divorce. Her spirit, anchored in hope and resilience, is both inspiring and contagious. As we revisit this episode, we celebrate her enduring wisdom and invite listeners to embrace her mantra: “Be Glad.”
