SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — A 41-year-old man from Stockton, California, has been found guilty of distributing large quantities of methamphetamine in South Dakota.
A federal jury convicted Odom Harris Jr. following a four-day trial.
Prosecutors say Harris was responsible for supplying more than 100 pounds of methamphetamine to a co-conspirator, who then distributed the drugs across South Dakota between early 2023 and 2024.
According to authorities, Harris shipped methamphetamine through the mail and also provided it to a co-conspirator in California, who transported the drugs to South Dakota by car and train.
Four other members of the same drug trafficking organization have also been convicted in federal court. One co-conspirator, Marquez McGee, was arrested in January 2024 with 42 pounds of methamphetamine. He later pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 25 years in federal prison in December.
The charge against Harris carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years and up to life in prison, along with a possible $10 million fine and at least five years of supervised release.
Harris was indicted by a federal grand jury in November 2024. The case was investigated by the Sioux Falls Area Drug Task Force and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
