LOS ANGELES – A California doctor accused of illegally providing ketamine to “Friends” actor Matthew Perry has agreed to plead guilty to federal charges, according to court documents cited by multiple news outlets.
Dr. Salvador Plasencia is one of five people charged in connection with Perry’s Oct. 2023 death. CNN reports that Plasencia has agreed to plead guilty to four counts of distributing ketamine.
As previously reported by Emily’s Hope, an autopsy revealed that Perry died from the “acute effects of ketamine.” The toxicology report showed Perry had 3,540 nanograms per milliliter of ketamine in his system.
According to CNN, Plasenca faces a maximum of 40 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of $2 million or twice the gross gain or loss from the offenses, whichever is greatest, as well as a mandatory $400 special assessment.
According to an affidavit, Plasencia discussed Perry in text messages with a co-conspirator, reportedly writing, “I wonder how much this moron will pay,” followed by, “Let’s find out.”
