SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Thanks to generous donors, thousands more students will be able to learn how to make healthier, better-informed choices for their brains and bodies. During Giving Tuesday, Emily’s Hope surpassed its goal of raising $20,000. An anonymous donor matched the first $10,000 raised, bringing the daily total to $21,000.
“The funds raised are an investment in a healthier and brighter future,” said Emily’s Hope founder Angela Kennecke. “Thanks to our donors, thousands more students will receive the Emily’s Hope K-12 Substance Use Prevention Curriculum across the country, our Narcan distribution program will continue to expand statewide, and we’ll work every day to stop stigma and save lives.”
Throughout the day, Emily’s Hope hosted an hour-long special broadcast showcasing the nonprofit’s vital work. The program “Hope in Action” spotlighted its efforts to educate children and the public about substance use disorder and the opioid epidemic, assist those struggling to afford treatment, and distribute lifesaving Narcan to communities in need.
“We are deeply grateful for every dollar donated on Giving Tuesday,” said Kennecke.
If you missed the chance to donate on Giving Tuesday, there’s still time to make an impact. Contributions can be made anytime through the Emily’s Hope website.
