MINOT, N.D. – The Minot Police Department issued a public alert after a series of drug overdoses, including at least one death.

Within 24 hours last week, officers responded to three non-fatal overdoses. The next day, while following up on those cases, police discovered a fourth overdose—this one fatal—and believe it may be connected to the others.

“We have reason to believe that the narcotics involved were either misrepresented or laced with unknown substances, making them especially dangerous,” the department wrote in a Facebook post.

As the investigation continues, police are reminding the public about North Dakota’s Good Samaritan Law. The law protects people from prosecution if they call 911 to report an overdose and stay on the scene until help arrives.

Just last week Emily’s Hope reported on Watertown, SD Police issuing a public safety alert after responding to overdoses involving what’s believed to be powder fentanyl.
