According to the Nebraska State Patrol, troopers pulled over a Honda CRV around 9 p.m. Monday, August 18, for driving on the shoulder near Sidney. Investigators say the stop quickly raised suspicion of criminal activity. A search of the vehicle revealed dozens of packages of suspected meth in a suitcase.

According to court records, law enforcement had been watching for a California-plated Honda CRV that had been making repeated trips between California and Nebraska. A database check showed the vehicle had completed several cross-country trips in less than 48 hours.

Castro was booked into the Cheyenne County Jail. The investigation is ongoing.
