Despite her criminal history, Coronel was invited to model at one of the most prestigious fashion shows, wearing a wedding dress by fashion designer April Black Diamond.

The LA-based designer wrote on Instagram, “I believe everyone deserves a second chance, and fashion is the perfect platform to highlight transformation, strength and resilience.”

Coronel’s husband was sentenced to life in prison on a number of criminal charges related to his leadership of the Sinaloa Cartel. According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Sinaloa Cartel is also at the heart of the fentanyl crisis.

In Los Angeles County, where the designer is based, fentanyl-related deaths have soared by more than 1,600% from 2016 to 2022, according to the LA Department of Health.
