SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – Avera is partnering with Emily’s Hope, a Sioux Falls non-profit, to have free Naloxone available at three hospital sites in South Dakota.
Naloxone, also known as Narcan, can act as a life-saving device in the case of opioid overdoses by reversing its effects and helping the individual breathe properly.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with Emily’s Hope to make naloxone more widely available across the Avera footprint,” said Mara Hermiston, DO, Chief Medical Officer for Avera Medical Group.
Emily’s Hope is a Sioux Falls-based organization that works to erase the stigma of substance abuse through treatments, awareness, and educational programs throughout the state.
