Emily’s Hope receives $500,000 grant from South Dakota opioid settlement fund

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – Emily’s Hope, a South Dakota substance use prevention non-profit, has received a major grant through the South Dakota Opioid Settlement Fund.

Emily’s Hope will receive a total of $518,418 to support a project expanding the organization’s Substance Use Prevention Curriculum to schools across the state.

“This grant is a powerful vote of confidence in every person who believed in this work from the very beginning,” said Angela Kennecke, Founder and CEO of Emily’s Hope.

Grants from the South Dakota Department of Social Services Opioid Settlement Fund, the Sioux Falls Community Foundation, and the South Dakota Community Foundation supported the curriculum’s development.

According to Emily’s Hope, the curriculum has been implemented in six states and one foreign country, reaching more than 30,000 students across individual school districts.
