A group of Sioux Falls nonprofits are teaming up with the City of Sioux Falls to host a vigil this week to commemorate the lives lost and otherwise affected by overdose deaths.
Statistics from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicate that a record high of nearly 110,000 people died as a result of overdoses in 2022.
“This alarming figure represents the urgent need for collective action and support for those affected by addiction,” Emily’s Hope said in a news release. “With an average of 300 lives lost daily to overdose in the United States, it is vital that we come together to address this crisis.”
