SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – Two new Naloxone boxes now stand inside the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls.
The life-saving boxes are installed in the hospital’s main lobby and emergency room, thanks to a partnership between Emily’s Hope and Sanford Health.
Each kit contains Naloxone, also known as Narcan, along with protective gear and instructions.
The medication helps to reverse opioid overdose and is free to anyone, no questions asked.
“This is so important. We want everyone to carry these Naloxone kits. This is a safety tool. We’d like to see them in every household, in every bag. It doesn’t hurt children, it doesn’t hurt people who don’t need it, but it can save a life. For those who need it, it is essential,” said Emily’s Hope President and CEO Angela Kennecke.
