Since May of 2024, one nonprofit has been working with businesses and tribal governments throughout South Dakota to decrease the rates of opioid overdose deaths.
Emily’s Hope first started placing naloxone boxes in public places in Sioux Falls and have now made their way across South Dakota.
Last April, the nonprofit established a naloxone distribution box in the Project Recovery Building in Rapid City.
In addition, they recently placed distribution boxes in various locations on the Pine Ridge Reservation and just established one in the Armory building in Sturgis Thursday.
Emily’s Hope also expanded its free naloxone access to the Fork Real Community Cafe and Monument Health in Rapid City.
Action for the Betterment of our Community, a Meade County-based prevention coalition and treatment agency, recently partnered with Emily’s Hope with the goal of reducing the stigma against substance abuse in communities.
