SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – Following the success of “Save a Life Day” on Thursday, “Emily’s Hope” founder Angela Kennecke will be a featured speaker at the National Trail of Truth event in Washington, D.C., on Saturday.
The National Mall in Washington, D.C., will play host to the National Trail of Truth Event, displaying more than 3,600 hand-painted tombstones to honor those who died from substance abuse.
Additionally, the DAR awarded Emily’s Hope a $50,000 grant for substance use prevention curriculum in Sioux Falls schools for the 2025-26 school year.
“I never imagined I would become part of this epidemic in such a personal way,” Kennecke said. “Now, I feel called to share Emily’s story and to work toward removing stigma, expanding access to treatment, and saving lives.”
Kennecke will be speaking from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday, September 27, at the National Mall to discuss policy change, opioid awareness, and educational opportunities.
