The South Dakota Attorney General’s Office, South Dakota Department of Social Services (DSS) and South Dakota Department of Health (DOH) gathered April 25 to announce a new partnership with Emily’s Hope, in which 20,000 naloxone kits will be distributed for free statewide.
Naloxone (commonly referred by its brand name, Narcan) kits will be made available through the South Dakota Opioid Settlement Fund and the State Opioid Response grant in “high-traffic areas across the state,” according to a press release from the organizations.
The South Dakota Attorney General’s Office has secured a $78.6 million settlement from a national settlement with various opioid companies, South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley said in an April 25 press briefing.
