Jeff’s substance use issues started at age 22. For most of his life, he struggled with his identity, especially his sexuality. Jeff found comfort and solace in alcohol, but it soon made things worse.
“Drinking would make me forget who I was and ease the discomfort I felt for a while, but it also brought out anger and sadness and made me someone I didn’t like being“
Jeff was involved in a drunk driving accident that changed the lives of others, and it ended up being a turning point in his life. An Emily’s Hope Treatment Scholarship helped Jeff receive the help he needed and eliminated the financial burden of inpatient treatment.
Jeff is now helping others who suffer from substance use disorder by sharing his story.
Jeff’s substance use disorder also resulted in legal problems. You can read this update on Jeff.
