Our Work
Emily’s Hope is dedicated to removing the stigma of substance use disorder through awareness, education, and prevention; and removing financial barriers for treatment and recovery.

Prevention Education
K-12 Curriculum
Our curriculum is designed to teach children the effects of substances on the brain, body, and life, in order to promote healthy choices.

Awareness
Appearances, headlines, podcast & blog
Angela Kennecke is turning her heartbreak into action with the Grieving Out Loud Podcast and advocacy work to raise awareness and end the drug epidemic.

Treatment
Offsetting treatment in Emily’s hometown
The Emily’s Hope Fund at the Avera Foundation helps offset the cost of treatment and allows more people struggling with addiction to get the help they need at the The Avera Addiction Care Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Harm Reduction
Nalxone and fentanyl testing strip distribution
Emily’s Hope is distributing free naloxone in distribution boxes placed across South Dakota, and providing them to be included with AEDs, as well as distributing at community events. We also give out fentanyl testing strips to any organization or individual who requests them.

Prevention Coalition
Emily’s Hope Youth Prevention Coalition
The Emily’s Hope Youth Prevention Coalition is focused on youth substance use prevention in Sioux Falls, SD, and is funded in part by the Drug-Free Communities grant from the White House and CDC.

Post-Overdose Response Team
Providing hope after overdose
Peer Support Specialists respond to overdoses in Minnehaha and Lincoln counties in South Dakota to provide navigation to resources and a path to recovery.

Loss Support Group
Providing a safe and understanding community
Emily’s Hope offers a support group for adults who have lost someone close to them to substance use, fentanyl poisoning, or drug overdose.
